SOVIET HERITAGE

Soviet architecture is arguably the most visible in Lithuanian cities. While most of other architectural styles in Lithuania were introduced naturally, Soviet architectural era came with great urban redevelopment and expansion.

The key public buildings were designed to emulate international trends such as brutalism and postmodernism. There's a lot of exposed concrete, massive exteriors and interiors.

Lithuanian Soviet architects found a lot of inspiration from Scandinavian modernism. In some of these buildings the Scandinavian style is still felt and seen today.

Soviet architecture is definitely not the most tourist attractive, but it is extremely cinematic.

It's no doubt perfect for any Soviet, Cold-war, Eastern European stories.  Furthermore, it perfectly fils Scandinavian, German and even some American topics.
